Frequently Asked Questions

How can I become involved with MPI?

There are a number of ways to become involved in MPI. If you are interested in volunteering to work and serve with MPI, please learn more on the volunteer   page. If you are interested in financially supporting MPI, please visit the donate  page. Your support and interest in MPI is what keeps us serving those communities who are in desperate need.

How can I start an MPI chapter at my university or college?

There are a several steps to starting a MPI chapter at your university or college. The first step is to read about our campus chapters. Then contact Joel Griffith to discuss how you want to bring Manna Project to your campus . From there, Joel will help guide you with advice and support to contact the appropriate departments at your school. The growth of MPI is greatly dependent on you, so your effort to expand MPI will help us all reach a greater number of communities.  Current MPI Chapters include: Baylor University, Duke University, Louisiana Tech, University of Iowa Medical School, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, University of Texas at Austin, Vanderbilt University, University of Georgia and Worcester State College. Chapters are currently being formed at Princeton University and Tulane University.

Where does MPI work internationally?

MPI currently has international locations in Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Guatemala. MPI has been in Managua, Nicaragua since 2004 and works in Managua in the communities of Cedro Galan, Chiquilistalgua, and La Chureca, the municipal dump.  MPI has been in Ecuador since 2007 and works outside of Conocoto, which is located southeast of Quito. MPI opened its third site in Chaquiyjá, Guatemala in 2010.  Our campus chapters also plan spring break trips to locations throughout Latin America.

How will my contribution be used?

The decision is yours. When you donate money to MPI, you have the option of donating your money to any facet of our organization. This includes: financial support for individual volunteers, funding for specific programs (i.e. sports, literacy, English), general support, or for various projects or campaigns that we fundraise for throughout the year.  Your donations are fundamental to helping us carry out our mission and vision. We greatly appreciate your support.

Does MPI have a religious affiliation?

MPI is not a religiously affiliated organization, nor is religious teaching or evangelization included in any part of our operations.  We welcome volunteers from all ideological viewpoints, and believe that a breadth of partnerships and diverse viewpoints will ultimately strengthen and enrich our organization as a whole.
